Smithton instrumental and vocal music took on the Kaysinger Conference music contest today and shined as always! The band earned an Exemplary, the highest rating, from all three judges. Also earning an Exemplary were Anna Kringle on her trumpet solo and Matt Sims on his xylophone solo. Earning an Outstanding were Mariska Miller and Lily Stevens on flute solos. Great job to our vocal soloists and trio today as well! Smithton trio (Anna Kringle, Izzy Brown, and Mariska Miller) and Zoey Thierfelder received a satisfactory rating and Anna Kringle received an outstanding rating. A big thank you to Mrs. Greene and Mrs. Bird for their guidance and leadership! Congratulations to all on a job well done!

Updated: This weeks Events!

Hi all, On April 20 Smithton hosts the Kaysinger Conference Middle School Music Contest. This is an excellent learning experience for the students and a great fundraiser for our music department. It is a large event and it takes many people to make it successful. We have many opportunities for people to help. Most are divided into shifts of about two hours, so you are not committing your entire Saturday. Please click on the link and sign up for a shift or two if you can. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090E4DA4AD2DA1FF2-47592240-msmusic#/
Also, we will be asking for food donations for the concession stand. This is how we make money from the event so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Bird or Mrs. Greene. Thanks!

Spring Sports Parent Meeting(TAU Meet the team) is tomorrow at 5:30 in the HS gym. If you have a student in spring sports, please attend.

It is that time of year again. The Smithton R-VI School Board of Education voted on the school calendar for the 2024-25 school year during their regular February meeting. The calendar for next year has 36 hours of inclement weather makeup days built in. This means that the end date for school is scheduled for May 9, 2025 and this date would only change if school were cancelled due to inclement weather (snow days) for greater than 36 hours (which is 6 days). If we were to miss more than 6 days, we would then be required to make up a maximum of 24 hours of school (which is 3 1/2 days). The first make up day would be on May 12th, the second make up day would be on May 13th, the third make up day would be on the 14th and the final make up day would be on the 15th. That final make up day would be a half day. Due to the uncertainty of winter weather, we urge everyone, for planning purposes, to consider May 15th, 2025 as the last day of school. We will communicate throughout the school year regarding these possible make up days. The following link will allow you to download the calendar. Please call our offices with any questions. We look forward to another great year of school at the Smithton Schools.
