Due to an unexpected power outage and being told it will not be back on in time for tonights game, the Girls High School Basketball game scheduled to be played here at Smithton has been cancelled.

Smithton Junior High Basketball travels to Tipton tonight for games starting at 5:30 pm. The girls will play first, followed by the boys. Come support the teams as they start their last week of the regular season.

Our girls played hard and finished 6th in the Kaysinger Tournament. Don’t forget to come out to SFCC tonight and cheer on our boys as they play in the Championship game at 6pm.

The Archery event that Smithton was scheduled to participate in tomorrow night has been cancelled. There is no archery event this weekend.

This is the Kaysinger Conference Tournament schedule moving forward. There are NO games on Friday. Two locations will have to be used on Saturday. Lady Tigers will play at 1:00 pm @ Sacred Heart. The Boys will play at SFCC @ 6:00 pm. The Full schedule is attached.

Smithton School district is taking applications for a teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages for the 2022-2023 school year. Current certification of (or eligibility for) ESOL is expected. Responsibilities include preparation of engaging lessons for all age groups from early elementary through High school students. With the help of the teacher, Smithton students have the opportunity to earn the seal of biliteracy supported by the Board of Education and administration. The teacher will be responsible for the WIDA ACCESS testing. Additional teacher expectations include timely and meaningful feedback to students and parents, a willing team player, and positive, encouraging attitude toward lifelong learning. Depending on qualifications this position could be combined with the available foreign language position. Knowledge of Tyler SIS, the google platform, and NWEA are desired but not required.
Smithton is a wonderful small school with the regular benefits including full board paid medical insurance but also small class sizes full of awesome kids, welcoming faculty and a family atmosphere.

Smithton HS Basketball Schedule News
In a winter sports season of changes, cancellations, and reschedules Smithton is presenting one more big change.
We are moving Homecoming festivities to Saturday February 12th @ 5:30 pm. Smithton will be playing Stover (reschedule) in JV boys, Varsity Girls, and Varsity boys games.
The King and Queen coronation will follow shortly after the conclusion of the Boys Varsity game.
The Athletic Department/Booster Club dinner will also take place Saturday the 12th, from 4:30 - 9:00.
Senior Night for Cheerleaders, Girls Basketball, and Boys Basketball will still be Friday February, 11th between the Boys JV and Varsity games vs Cole Camp.
Girls HS Basketball will still play at Cole Camp on Thursday, February 10th as scheduled.
We apologize for the change (again), but we know that this change allows us to give more students and teams the opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities on this important evening.
