Each February the Smithton R-VI Board of Education adopts the academic calendar for the next school year. The 2021-22 School Calendar was adopted on February 22, 2021 at the school board's monthly public meeting. The calendar is developed by members of a staff team. This staff team meets several times to discuss aspects of the calendar that are best suited to teaching and learning. According to state law the calendar must have at least 1,044 instructional hours and start no more than 14 days prior to Labor Day. This calendar includes 1,105 instructional hours (60 hours more than the law requires) and therefore, does not have to be amended as a result of days missed due to inclement weather. Please contact our offices if you have any questions about the calendar.
